The Netherlands

The Netherlands

Day 1

Windmills many Windmills, they pump water, make paint, grind flower, cut wood I'm not sure there is anything these multi-tools of manufacturing can't do. The Zaan districs was one of the world first industrial districts and had over 1000 mills in it's day; with 8 remaining today.  Restored in 2007 the Het Jonge Schaap Mill(the young Sheep) is still in operation today; milling timber on special order.  With clogs and cheese to complete the Dutch trinity.  I would like to thank my lovely tour guide, translator and bike buddy Marian for taking me to see the Zaanses Shans and for putting up with my attempts to photograph everything.
